We would like to introduce our important colleagues in both the Maori and Pacific student support area:

Tama Walker, who will be know to many through his previous work with Otago Polytechnic, is our Maori Community Liaison Officer working out of Te Huka Matāuraka (Maori Centre) on campus.

Scotty Opetaia and Tameti Teweti are our new Pacific Transition Officers, based at our Pacific Islands Centre, which has just moved to a new location on campus at 520 Castle Street.

Their main role is around helping Māori and Pasifika students with a successful transition to the University of Otago, and we will be working closely with them to ensure positive outcomes for these students.

They will also be working on engaging Māori and Pasifika students from an early age and introducing them to the realm of tertiary education, so please feel free to pass their contact details on to the relevant staff in your schools. You can contact Scotty, Tameti & Tama here:
