Digital distractions

Tell us what you think – to have cell phones at school or to ban them, that is the question.

We all have cell phones and use them daily as a usual part of communication. However, how most of our students use their phones and apps differs significantly from their parents and teachers. Every day you will hear the refrain from thousands of frustrated teachers around the country to “put that phone in your bag!” and the sighs of students who reluctantly put their phone down for a few minutes.

With an increase in anxiety, peer pressure, online bullying, and disruption to learning by social media notifications, we need to have an honest conversation about what we want for our rangitahi students at JPII.

The survey is open for two weeks and we will share the results in the week three newsletter.
