Kia Ora Hauora Programme:

JPII Student Pyper Murphy participated in the Kia Ora Hauora three-day Hospital Work Placement in conjunction with Te Whatu Ora Te Tai o Poutini West Coast. The workplace exposure is designed to promote the diversity of health care pathways by providing an opportunity for students to see firsthand what kaimahi (health workers) encounter on a day-to-day basis within different areas of the West Coast Hospital.

Pyper got to meet with nurses, radiographers, social workers and many more from all different sectors in health care. She was able to visit different departments in the Hospital such as Maternity and Theatre and learn about all of the different career pathways.

This is a fantastic opportunity and programme for Maori students. If there are any Year 9 or 10 Maori interested in participating; they will be running a junior programme later on in the year. See Jasmine for more information or to put your name down.
