What a blessing to have had some sunshine this week!

After a long, wet winter, this is just what we all need to feel a sense of renewal. It was great to see so many outside enjoying the BBQ, bouncy castle, rugby, and basketball at first break today. With the golden weather look set to continue this weekend, I encourage all students to get outside for some recreation in the sun. It’s good for the soul!

Earlier this year we asked if anyone had a BBQ they could donate to the school. We were blessed to have Tammie Sandrey donate a fantastic BBQ. DP Madeline Campbell put it together yesterday (she has so many skills!) and it took its maiden voyage today with the Basketball fundraiser. Never has a better sausage been cooked at JPII! Even golden colour, excellent bread to sauce to onion ratio – well done to the tong master Lochie Gibson and the team for taking it to the next level! Bring on BBQ season!

With only three weeks left of the term, many senior students will be feeling the pressure of derived grade exams next week, and the completion of NCEA assessments. Senior students will only need to be in at school for their exams next week. For senior students who aren’t sitting exams, they may come and in work to complete assessments. If they need specific help, they should make an appointment with their teachers to ensure they are free at the time as many will be involved with exam supervision or assisting those with special assessment conditions.

The great success of our Senior A Boys’ Basketball team means they have gained entry to the prestigious National Championship in Palmerston North in the October holidays. They are seeking sponsors to help them on their way. You’ll find the player profiles and sponsorship details in this newsletter. If you are in a position to help them out, we would welcome your donation. A huge shout out to Jasmine Dodemaide for the fantastic work she is doing with the team.

Wishing you all a wonderful and restful weekend.
