Bootcamp this week

During Bluelight Bootcamp on Wednesday this week, all students had the opportunity to complete a speed test with a speed camera.

Fast seniors were Matty Molloy, followed by Zak and Toby, then Cooper, Nathan and Alex.

Speedy juniors were Sean Baquiao, followed by Max, Jake and Seth, then Kadey, Sam Bryan, and Jack Honey.

This became quite competitive for each group, so we'll arrange to be able to do this again for individual glory and house points, with all students competing together with the same speed camera and running the same distance on the same surface, as we have a bit of "enthusiastic and energised" debate between senior and junior groups about comparative speed times!

We needed to postpone the Police Competency Test (which includes physical obstacles and challenges) due to the organiser getting Covid at the start of the week unfortunately. We will give students the opportunity to do this at a later date, as our local police are keen to do this with us.

Staff and students would like to thank Senior Constable Terri Middleton for all of her planning and coordinating the different personal trainers that have helped us make Bootcamp such a success in the first half of the year, and the other police officers who tirelessly turned up week after week to participate alongside students, helping to build stronger connections between the school, the community, and the police.

Big thanks too to the amazing and very professional expert personal trainers who in many cases stepped outside their comfort zones to train us in large groups and in new ways - Lisa, Marty, Brogan, and Riria.

We are looking forward to working more with Riria Wall next term, we have some exciting plans developing to partner with her that we will share with you all soon. Most importantly, we'll be continuing with Bootcamp for an hour each Wednesday next term, as it is proving very successful with students who are turning up in sports gear ready to go, participating to the best of their abilities, and encouraging and supporting each other.
