Lent

The theme for Lent 2022 is Building Dreams Together: Called to be Peacemakers. In our changing world we need to come together and find ways of realising our dreams. There is always hope of transforming our world for the better when we are guided by peace, love and justice in our lives.

As we approach the Liturgical Season of Lent students are engaging with students from the wider catholic schools in our Diocese. On Monday several students will participate in the Caritas zoom, this replaces the usual trip to Christchurch. The aim is to develop student leadership skills that those attending can pass on to the wider student body.

On March 4th Catholic Character Leaders will participate in a Zoom hosted by Mr Tony Shaw, Catholic Education Office, to discuss ideas and perhaps plan for more Zoom’s for the students to build relationships with other catholic schools. With the postponement of the Bishop Lyons Shield, contacts with other catholic schools is very limited.

This will come to fruition on March 18th when we have a Whanau colours day to raise funds for Tonga.

Tuesday is Pancake Race Day, Mardi Gras! Mrs Smith is making pancakes with the students for all to enjoy after the race, the keen teachers have signed up for the race, over a small obstacle course. Whanau groups will be well represented.

On Ash Wednesday there will be liturgy in all Whanau groups, with a black wrist ribbon representing the usual Ashes. +AB Paul has asked that no Ashes be distributed.

On Friday April 2 the students of Hone Paora Tuarua will lead the Stations of the Cross in our parish church at 5.30pm.

KAITIAKI2SHARE

The KAITIAKI2SHARE competition has been running since 2020. Students of all ages have shared amazing original ideas on how we can all be better stewards and care for God's creation (both people and the environment).

Students, Please speak to your teacher in Social Science, Science and Religious Studies about this opportunity.
