Ideas needed to improve Coast health and wellbeing

Calling all Coasters – we want your ideas for improving our health and wellbeing, what really matters – to individuals, to whanau and families, and to communities, and what would make things better.

The rural remoteness of the West Coast region makes equity and access to health and wellbeing services significantly challenging to solve.

Takiwā Poutini (West Coast regional locality programme) is asking iwi and communities what’s needed. And we’re involving different organisations working together to come up with an improved environment and services so everyone’s wellbeing is as good as possible.

Wellbeing is how we feel about life – it covers emotional, physical, spiritual, financial, social and intellectual environments. Lots of things impact on our wellbeing – including housing, employment, roading, education, food, transport and health.

Partner agencies involved include Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Waewae and Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio, Te Whatu Ora Te Tai o Poutini West Coast, West Coast Primary Health Organisation, Te Mana Ora Community & Public Health, the Regional Public Service Commissioner (representing Government agencies), Whaikaha Ministry of Disabled People, Buller District Council, Grey District Council and Westland District Council.

If you can’t make it to one of our drop-in sessions, ring 022 018 4429 or email feedback@takiwapoutini.org.nz with your ideas and thoughts. A survey link will be available soon on www.takiwapoutini.nz
