Year 10 Camp

From 9-12 September the year 10 students travelled to Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre.

When we arrived, the snow was still on the ground, so we of course had a snowball fight!

The students were divided into 3 groups of 9 for the day activities. These included challenging activities which also required practising good communication and leadership skills.

Students progressed from low ropes to high ropes, did rock climbing and abseiling and the flying kiwi. They also had to work together to cross a swamp, light a fire in the outdoors, orienteering and build a shelter along with games to build trust while having fun. In the evening, the nightline, night orienteering and the solo were challenging experiences to build resilience, with some time for socialising and cards before lights out.

The teachers and parent helpers saw that the students supported and encouraged each other to succeed, and participated in every activity with gusto, and that this experience has built their confidence and connectedness for the senior years at JPII.

Miss Hutchinson revelled in her role as chief camp cook, the food was brilliant and in great quantities! It was an unforgettable experience all round.
