Congratulations to the Junior Catholic Character Hub who led the Winter campaign to stock up the cupboards of the Sisters of mercy and Vinnies. Just so fabulous to see the whole school come together living out the social justice principles that Jesus laid the foundation for through Luke’s gospel. The ladies at Vinnies were overjoyed. Our Semester focus of Presence, has been visible all the time. So, very heartwarming to see staff and students supporting each other, throughout. This term has bought challenges, cold, covid and chocolate drive (supporting the tournament week). A welcome end of term and rest for all.

Holiday Prayer

We thank you Lord, for this term. For our challenges, our successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.

Give us strength and courage to do what is right: to be witnesses of our faith. Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others. To be peacemakers in our family.

Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun. Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term. We thank our classmates, teachers, parents and the community that cares for us.

May we always be conscious of you in our lives.

A massive thank you to everyone who brought in cans, food and toiletries. This is a great turn out even though we are just a small catholic school. This Can Drive is very important as it helps our community who are much older than us who no longer have the strength to lift heavier things and those who are unable to buy their essential needs. Helping the community like this enhances our school's catholic character, I appreciate all of you for your contribution. Daniel Cresswell estimates that the value of the donations is an excess of $2000. Daniel has extensive grocery experience!

Matariki atua ka eke mai i te rangi e roa e. Matariki heralds the return of lengthened light.

Do you remember learning at primary school that New Zealand was discovered in 1769 by Captain James Cook? Or perhaps you were taught that in fact he rediscovered the land, since it had first been sighted by Abel Tasman 127 years earlier and that it was after this discovery that we became known by the Dutch name Nieuw Zeeland. In any event, we can be sure that very soon rangatahi throughout New Zealand will grow up with a more accurate version of how and by whom their country was found. Including the remarkable navigational skills of tangata whenua, the first people to reach these shores centuries before sailors from Europe appeared on the scene.
