Congratulations to Daniel Cresswell

National Youth Art Award

Daniel Creswell’s artwork ‘Journey Through Central Otago’ has been selected to appear as part of the upcoming Waikato Society of Arts National Youth Art Awards. It was chosen as a finalist out of many entries from all over New Zealand and will be part of an exhibition held at the Chartwell Gallery in Hamilton, from the 9th September to the 11th October.

Daniel’s entry is a painting which is inspired by his memories of travelling with his truckdriver father, and also inspired by his grandfather and their shared interest in trains. It is acrylic paint on paper and was completed as part of his Year 11 Art course.

The finalists will be judged by two of New Zealand’s prominent artists and the winner will receive a prize of $2000.

Due to Covid lockdown we are waiting for an announcement from NYAA on 31st August as to whether the exhibition opening will still be going ahead on these dates.

Congratulations Daniel, what a great achievement and all the best for the exhibition.
