Oceania Catholic Bishops response to Synod Continental Stage Published

As you will recall, the Federation of Catholic Bishops Conferences of Oceania executive committee recently approved the final version of the Federation’s response to Enlarge the Space of Your Tent, the Working Document for the Continental Stage of the Synod of Bishops for a Synodal Church. The committee submitted the response document to the Synod Secretariat in Rome in late March and agreed to publish it this week.

A PDF copy of the response document is attached.

The response document was considered at the FCBCO assembly in Fiji in February which was attended by four of our bishops and a number of Catholic lay people.

A media statement from the FCBCO about the response document is online here with various useful links: https://www.catholic.org.nz/news/media-releases/oceania-response/

The response document itself is also online here: https://www.catholic.org.nz/assets/FCBCO-Response-to-the-Document-for-the-Continental-Stage.pdf

The Federation of Catholic Bishops Conferences of Oceania comprises the episcopal conferences of Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific and Papua New Guinea/Solomon Islands. Archbishop Paul Martin SM of Wellington and Bishop Michael Dooley of Dunedin took part in the response document approval as New Zealand’s representatives on the FCBCO executive.
