Shout out to former student Daniel Burgess (Ngāpuhi)

Daniel has created a bit of a stir over the last couple of weeks with the completion of his Master’s examination with an A grade. For his thesis, Daniel explored the comedy of New Zealand icon Billy T. James. This is the first ever scholarly look at the work of the comedic legend.

Daniel attended John Paul II from 2010 -2014. He was awarded a Tū Kahika scholarship by the University of Otago where he completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma in English. Daniel has since returned to Greymouth and completed his Master’s degree via distance learning with Massey University and his supervisor, Dr. Nicholas Holm. He will continue his studies with Dr. Holm, beginning his Ph.D. in May.

Congratulations, Danny B!
