There was no time for relaxation for Noah during the holidays

On the 1st and 2nd of July Noah competed in the Skoda South Island school Road Cycling Championships at Ruapuna racetrack in Christchurch. Noah competed in the under 15 years category. It was a very cold weekend to be out in lycra! The event started with the time trial over 3.44 km with Noah recording a time of 5.03 minutes and gaining a bronze medal. This was a huge result and gained him his first NZ cycling medal.

The next day it was time for the 4.5 lap road race which was 15 kms in distance. Due to the flat course and disorganisation in the bunch a solo rider escaped for the win. Noah fought hard to remain in the front bunch despite the constant attacks. It was a very hard race. As the finish straight beckoned a bunch of 10 riders were still together off the final bend. An eighth of a second separated Noah from 3rd despite a tremendous bike throw. Noah gained 4th position.

On the 16 of July Noah travelled to Kartsport in Christchurch to take the start line for the South Island Schools Cyclocross Championship. Cyclocross involves riding a technical course over a variety of terrain including manmade obstacles. There is some running involved whilst carrying the bike over some of the obstacles. Noah again competed in the under 15 age group the race was 30 minutes in duration.

Noah stayed in 2nd for the first half of the race but was unable to stay with the leader. He fought off numerous attacks and entered the final lap in 3rd place with a good lead over the riders behind him. He gained his second Cycling New Zealand bronze medal.
