Mau Rākau Wānaka

A group of our Kapa Haka rangatahi attended the Arahura Marae today with Mr Steggles. Students were able to work with expert tutors from Te Hono Ngā Waka and Te Whare Pū Rākau o Matamata to deepen their knowledge of Mātauranga Māori in terms of learning waiata-a-ringa, mau rākau, and the history of the area and whakapapa of the carvings in Whare Tūhuru. They worked alongside students from Greymouth High School, and had a rich day of learning experiences immersed in the kaupapa of the marae. Thank-you to Pyper, Sarah, Eddie, Kade and Grace M for representing our school so well.

Thanks to Mr Steggles for attending with the students, he had a rich day of learning too.
