12 Biology Tauranga Bay Trip

On Friday 28 April the year 12 Biology class travelled to Tauranga Bay near Westport to sample the Rocky Shore. This is for an internal assessment task where students evaluate the zonation pattern of species in the intertidal zone, and explain the adaptations of some of the species to survive in their habitat. The weather was perfect and students collected transect and quadrat data, and observed almost 30 species of plants, animals and lichen. We went to Westport for lunch before heading home after a great day out.
