Y12 Trip to Careers Expo

Andrea Williamson —

On Thursday 11th May we took a large group of Year 12 students to the Careers Expo at the Christchurch Arena.

Students were able to talk to a wide range of training and tertiary providers and gather information on possible future study ideas and career pathways. They were also able to interact with a wide range of employers and learn about many different career pathways with a wide range of organisations, such as Christchurch Engine Centre, Dairy NZ, Waste Management, and the large Go Tourism area.

A lot of the students really enjoyed the Defence Force stand where they got to try many hands-on experiences, from sitting in vehicles and trying on equipment to using their technology. Hopefully, this has given them an insight into the many different study and career pathways to help them with future career plans.

It was great to see ex-student Isabella Johnston on the NZMA stand where she has just completed her NZ Certificate in Floristry.
