KHS Swimming Sports

On Friday 9th April, the KHS Swimming Sports took place at the Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre.

The annual event was back on after being cancelled last year. It was fantastic to see a number of students get involved in both the competitive races, and even getting stuck into some social races, such as 25m Doggie Paddle.

This event was organised and run by Mr Foster’s Level 2 Physical Education class as part of their event planning assessment. It was awesome to see a number of students step up into their key roles to have the event run smoothly. Beth Dunbar did an awesome job running the show as the Marshal and Izzy Solomon-Ritchie did a fantastic job as the starter.

Matai won a tight house relay with some fantastic swimming, but full results are not yet clear and will come out later this week as the final data is entered.

Well done to all of our swimmers and organisers. Here are some results from the day:

House overall: 1st Tōtara  2nd Mataī  3rd Kauri  4th Rimu

House Relay: 1st Mataī  2nd Kauri  3rd Tōtara  4th Rimu (came in at 3rd but had no female swimmers)

Age Grades:

U14F 1st: Lucy Macefield  2nd: Jess Morel 

U14M 1st: Taylor Potter  2nd: Seth Green 

U15F 1st: Amelia Cate 

U15M 1st:Geraint Campbell 

U16M 1st: Nikora Wall (out of 2 swimmers)
