Information on upcoming Industrial Action

Jason Reid —

Kaiapoi High School would like to advise our families that next week there will be two days where school will not be open for tuition.

These days are Tuesday 2 May when parent/caregiver-teacher interviews
are being held and Friday 5 May when there is a Teacher Only day.

Kaiapoi High School would also like to give you as much notice as possible regarding possible industrial action in Term 2.

There are plans for a strike day on Tuesday 9 May where school will not be open for tuition. The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff and has determined that we cannot provide normal teaching services during the strike. Therefore, the school will officially be closed for instruction on 9 May.

We apologise for the inconvenience. If required, the school’s non-union members are available to supervise a small number of students on this day. If your child requires supervision on the day of the strike, please notify us by replying to this email with the name(s) of the child(ren) requiring supervision.

Buses for secondary school students will not be available. Therefore, bus students requiring supervision will need to be provided with alternative transportation to and from school.

The following rostering home plan has also been set down for Term 2. This is when a year group is not attending school on a particular day.

Week 2: Thursday 4 May - Year 11

Week 3: Tuesday 9 May Strike Day / Thursday 11 May - Year 13

Week 4: Tuesday 16 May - Year 9 / Wednesday 17 May - Year 10

Week 6: Tuesday 30 May - Year 13 / Thursday 1 June - Year 12

Week 7: Tuesday 6 June- Year 10 / Thursday 8 June - Year 9
