Sporting Success

Hayley Newton —

We have had many students achieving sporting success outside of school this term, including three students that put on a NZ top and represented our country for their age group during the October school holidays.

Congratulations to the following students:

Darragh Hamilton-Davis - NZ Men's U20 Netball team that played in the Trans Tasman Series v Australia.

Aliyah Newton - NZ U17 3x3 Basketball team that competed in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

Jayden Fitzgerald - NZ Junior Developing Sox Softball team U19 Champs in Australia.

Lucy Macefield - Canterbury Surfing team that took part in the 2022 National Scholastic Surfing Championships in Taranaki and came home with a silver medal.

McKenzie Bailey-McDowell - Canterbury U19 Softball team that will compete in the National Championships in Waikato in January and also the Canterbury U17 team that has their Nationals in Wellington in January.

Salome Drulidruli - Scorpions U18 Rugby League Team that competed at the National Youth Girls Tournament in Taupo. Salome was awarded the MVP & Players Player Trophy for her team.

Kody Ballagh - Waitaha U15 Rugby Tournament, Invercargill.

Skyla Brown - North Canterbury U13 Regional Tournament, Ashburton.

Kaedin Fettes - Canterbury Touch U14 Team.

Lily Perrins & James Harrison - SISS Junior Korfball Tournament Team.

Finlay Blackwell - At the end of March this year, after the final SUPA polo tournament (Schools and Universities Polo Association), Finlay Blackwell, Y11, was selected along with three other players to represent the South Island in a tournament against NSW, Australia. The NSW team won convincingly and has given NZ something to aim for next year. Finlay has also been a horseman for the Crusaders this year.

We love sharing your sporting achievements, so please make sure you let the sports office know what sports you have been involved in outside of school.
