From the Board table

Phil Kerrigan —

Well, term 3 has certainly been an unusual one!

Our school has transitioned back into Level 2 smoothly. It is important that we recognise the underlying concerns felt by students and teachers, due to ongoing uncertainty around the impact of Covid-19 in our country.

Staff and teachers have been proactive in their planning, using lessons from the last lockdown, of how online teaching will be managed if we are required to go back into lockdown.

Special thanks to Kristie Dutton (our International Manager) who has supported our international students who are far from home in these uncertain times.

A special mention to Leanne (our cleaner), for the amazing job she has done in supporting our school during this time.

Auditorium Refurbishment

Margaret (our Executive Officer) has done a marvellous job organising the auditorium refurbishment. This has included the installation of new heating and replacement of floor coverings, and a new sound recording studio. The refurbishment will result in a warmer and more modern performance space for our students and our community.

Village Green

A Village Green is being planned, to upgrade the current concrete square outside the library. The plan has had student input and includes bench seating with pergola shading and artificial grass to add some colour to the area. This will make a welcoming area for our students to relax in between classes.

This is being funded by a special school investment package allocated to all schools for projects not covered by property and maintenance funding.  This work is scheduled to be completed by January 2021.

Mid-term Board Elections

Our Board has a staggered election cycle – which means mid-term elections are held for parent trustees. Nominations for the next round of elections open on Sunday 11 October and close on Sunday 1 November. If an election is required, this will be held on 4 December 2020.  Nomination forms will be posted to parents/caregivers.

We would encourage anyone keen to support the education of our students to join the Board.
