Three of our senior students received awards at the recent Pasifika Academic Awards Ceremony.

Congratulations to Ajay Tongia, Tyson Tongia and Jamie Neeson-Pene for being selected to attend the Pasifika Academic Awards Ceremony, where they received an award for being active leaders within the school! Ajay and Jamie also received awards for being the highest achieving male and female Pasifika students at Kaiapoi High School in 2017.

It was a great event that welcomed all schools to participate and celebrate the excellence of Pasifika students. It included traditional Pacific songs, dance and prayers that made the students feel connected to their cultures.

On Tuesday 27 March a group of 11 students attended the Pasifika Careers Expo at Ara, along with 450 students from Canterbury secondary schools. This was the first time that Kaiapoi High School has attended this event and we were warmly welcomed by everyone. It was a great opportunity for our students to talk to some providers about options to further their education after school, while making connections with other Pasifika students.
