CACTUS Term 2

Alisha Smith —

CACTUS is over for another term and what a great term it has been!

There were a few fun changes to the programme this time around, with a new teacher in charge (Miss Smith) and a staff-led session on Wednesdays (Mr McAuley and Mr Creed), in between the sessions run by Gary White. The sessions were a mix of grueling exercise, games, fitness testing and team-building exercises. There were several opportunities this term for students to bring friends, family, and staff members along to join in on the fun!

The Longest Day Celebrations began on Thursday 27th June with a Spit Roast Dinner (pig shot by Mr McAuley) to say thank you to all of the people who supported us behind the scenes. The CACTUS crew slept over at school on Thursday night and awoke bright and early on Friday morning to pack up and head out to Mt Grey (Maukatere) for the day, where they put a massive effort in going up the mountain. Even though the CACTUS group was one of the smallest, the students worked really hard to pull the two firetrucks from Blue Skies into the school. Congratulations to everyone in the Term 2 CACTUS Group for 2019, you smashed it!
