North Canterbury Academy of Music Concert

Sophia Bidwell —

On Saturday 23rd November the North Canterbury Academy of Music had its annual end of year Showcase concert.

This year Kaiapoi High School has taken over the 'host school' role for NCAM (an administrative role only, lessons are still held at the practice rooms in the Rangiora Town Hall complex), so it was a great pleasure to see a number of our students involved in this concert. We had representatives in the choir, orchestra, celtic string group, wind ensemble, and the massed item. Additional students performed in the Monday evening soloists' concert, also held at the Town Hall.

A special congratulations goes to Rebekah Caldwell, year 9, who was the recipient of one of the Academy's scholarships for 2020. Rebekah studies clarinet at the Academy and was awarded the scholarship in recognition of her hard work and great progress throughout this year.

Pictured are Alex Bidwell (year 10), Annie Saunders, (year 10), James Kerr-Shaw (year 12), Wolf Pene (year 9), and past student Charlie Pene. Also involved in the concert were Alanah Fern (year 13) and Rebekah Caldwell (year 9).
