Christchurch Symphony Orchestra visit

Ethan Mead —

On the 21st of June, the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra came to deliver a workshop to our music students.

We had five members of the orchestra visit, bringing a violin, a viola, a french horn, a flute, and a bass trombone. A series of pieces were played, chosen carefully to take turns in highlighting each instrument's function and sound, and each player took the time to talk about their instrument.

This incredibly rich experience provided our students with an opportunity to see some of the country's best musicians up close. Not only does this provide tangible benefits to our students' performance ability, but a lot of what we saw directly relates to the theory work we have been engaging with.

Thank you, CSO!
