This term, we are pleased to welcome Japanese students who have flown directly from Japan, as well as those who have transferred from other schools in New Zealand. Additionally, we have one student from Brazil who is here through their local government's scholarship programme.
On 31st January, our international students, along with the new Year 9 students, were warmly welcomed through our traditional Māori powhiri at the school. Kaiapoi High School offers English classes specifically for students whose first language is not English. Our ESOL teacher conducted language assessments for these students on their first day.
On 7th February, we had the pleasure of hosting 98 Chinese students who were stopping by before flying back to China on the same day. During their visit, we organized Q&A sessions where these Chinese students had the opportunity to interact and engage with our Kiwi students. It was a valuable experience for both groups, fostering cultural exchange and understanding.
