John Stringer —

What we have been up to in Classical Studies in Term 2.

In Classics we've been learning where language came from, including Greek and Latin by exploring ancient cuneiform, the oldest known human language from Meosopotamia. We've made clay tablets (not computer tablets, but the first literal clay tablets), made in our palms by rolling clay and then wedges pressed into the clay, with a stylus reed to express ideas or syllabic sounds.

We're also learning the ancient Greek alphabet, i.e. we've caught DELTA and OMICRON; have lots of ALPHA females and males in class; who are BETA-ing every IOTA of language while we eat ETA chips. We're a bit CYCLOPS (one-eyed) about Classics. It's a great ODYSSEY!
