On 25th May, 15 students attended a Youth Leadership Day run by iSport, a foundation founded by Richie McCaw and Dan Carter.

The purpose of the day was to encourage and inspire young students to become great and impactful leaders.

Richie McCaw, Dan Carter, Moses Mackay, Dame Valerie Adams, Dame Sophie Pascoe, and Arihira Bennett all spoke about their careers and the challenges they overcame to be successful leaders in their respective careers.

Hearing the speakers talk about the experiences that shaped them to be the people they are today was both inspiring and empowering. The speakers told vulnerable stories and talked about obstacles they faced in the duration of their careers, as well as how they overcame the setbacks. From dealing with mental health and the pressures to do well, various topics were discussed that resonated with everyone in the audience. It was motivating and an amazing experience to get to know the qualities of what makes a great leader, from the very leaders we look up to.
