Term 3 CACTUS

Lucy Tame —

This term's CACTUS group is a small group, but an enthusiastic one!

Fourteen terms in, CACTUS (Combined Adolescent Challenge Unit and Support) is still going strong. Led by our instructor KHS teacher Eamonn Lowe, the programme is in its fourth year, having supported over 300 students to complete this physically and mentally demanding 8 week programme. Whatever direction CACTUS takes in the future, its aim is still the same: to build students resilience through physical and mental challenges, with the aim of helping them throughout their educational journey, now and in the future.

This term's CACTUS group have been pushing themselves in all aspects of the course, exhibiting clear strengths when completing problem solving tasks, not giving up until they achieve their goal.

A number of students also gave up their time to help in a local community initiative, planting trees as part of the Kaiapoi Fruit Forest. The students will finish with the Longest Day challenge, bring it on!
