From the Board table

Belinda Smith —

It has been a busy and demanding start to the year at Kaiapoi High School.

While 2022 started much the same way as 2021 finished, with Covid having minimal impact on Kaiapoi High School, it has certainly made its presence felt now with case numbers in the region almost reaching that of Auckland.

The Kaiapoi High School Covid Plan has proven to be robust and up to the challenges faced during this ever changing environment. Kaiapoi High School can pride itself on being amongst a handful of schools still functioning well.

Along with the increased demands that the new wave of Covid brings, for the first time in over a decade we will have a new principal. There was incredibly strong interest from within our school community and nationwide for this position. In total, 11 applications had been received. The appointment process is well underway with interviews being held on Tuesday 12th April. The Board has a challenging time ahead making sure the new principal can take Kaiapoi High School to the next level.

The Board would like to thank Bruce for his perseverance, dedication and hard work at Kaiapoi High and wishes him all the best for his new position, just down the road at Rangiora High.

Lastly, the Board would like to thank the senior leadership team, teaching staff, support staff, students and our great community for their support of the school this term. Have a well deserved break, keep safe and see you next term.
