Australian Mathematics Competition 2015
KHS Year 10 student Nathaniel Dicker (10W) received a Distinction Award in the Australian Mathematics Competition.
This places him in the top 10% of competitors in his age group
throughout Australasia. The photo shows Nathaniel receiving the award at a
recent special ceremony at Christ’s College where his achievement was
acknowledged, along with top students from other schools, by AMC representatives
and leaders in the Canterbury Mathematics community.
15 Kaiapoi High School students flexed their maths muscles in what was the 38th Australian Mathematics Competition this year, along with hundreds of thousands of students from primary and secondary schools worldwide. This is one of the world’s largest school-based mathematics competitions, with more than 14.5 million entries since 1978.
Alexandra Stevenson (9S), Isabella Hingston (9W), Jake Thornton (9W), Ben Alexander (10S), Jacob Harford (10S), Daniel Bowles (Year 11) and Jacob Sullivan (Year 12) achieved Credit Awards. Congratulations to all students who won special awards.
If you are good at problem solving then give it a go next year! Next year’s competition is set for Thursday 28th July 2016, but don’t forget that entries need to be paid during the first term, so watch the notices and get involved!
