The Girls' Sevens Rugby team had a great start to the season, kicking off their first tournament down in Timaru for the Sevens South Island Tournament.

This team had a variety of girls from Year 9 to Year 13 who were an enthusiastic bunch and lifted the new sport within the school. The girls went down to Timaru having had little practice and came out better than intended. Overall, the girls placed 2nd in their pool after the first day, taking away two wins out of three, which then gave them a shot playing off in the top 4. After a hard fight against Motueka and St. Margaret's, the girls ended up placing 4th overall. The team had great success and were very pleased with their results. 

The girls have set a high standard for further years to come, as we hope the sport will continue to grow. The girls will be also competing in mini-tournaments held in Christchurch during term 4 and hope to continue their success.
