Gateway Term 2

Andrea Williamson —

Now that Covid restrictions have eased, it has been a busy term finding and placing the Gateway students who have been patiently waiting to go out to the experience many different workplaces.

Whilst waiting to go out on placement, most of the students have completed their Workplace First Aid and researched different careers in detail. Gateway students get to complete a work placement to see if it is a possible future study and/or employment pathway for them. It is fantastic to be supported by so many local employers and their support of our students on their placement is much appreciated, as the programme could not operate without them. Below are the types of workplaces some of our students are working at for a day a week, along with some photos of current gateway students at their work placements.

  • Farming, Retail, Supermarkets, Hospitality, Bakeries, Salmon Farming, Aero Club, Roofing, Hairdressers, Radio station, Automotive Garages, Civil Construction, Builders, Home Maintenance, Heat Pump and Air Conditioning Installers, Kitchen manufacturing, Museum, Preschools and Primary Schools, Youth Work, Christchurch Hospital and Rest Homes
