15 students from Kaiapoi High School volunteered to help run the North Canterbury Cantamath Competition on Wednesday 1st August.

This is an important event for us to show our community spirit and help promote Mathematics to primary students. Local primary schools, many of which are feeder schools to Kaiapoi High, competed against other primary schools around Canterbury. This year up to 30 different schools participated in another successful competition held at Clarkville School. The students did a great job and it was a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community.

It was great getting to know the younger students from KHS who joined in to mark and even greater getting to mark the winning team for Year 6. Watching them accept an award made me feel surprisingly proud! - Olivia Silby
