Polyfest

Salome Drulidruli, Y13 —

Over four weeks, a group of students from Kaiapoi High School and Rangiora High School joined together to prepare a performance for Canterbury Polyfest.

This was held on March 18th at the Hagley Park entertainment area. The group practised 4-5 times a week to get the performance learned and during this time created a very strong bond between the students and schools. The performance was made up of Fijian, Samoan and Tongan dances and songs.

Before taking the stage, the group was given an opportunity to showcase their hard work to their peers, aiga and teachers at Fiafia night. This was a great way to prepare the students for the real event on Saturday.

When it came to our time to perform on Saturday, all students did a spectacular job of representing their school, culture and family with pride.

We would like to say a big thank you to all those that helped and supported our Polyfest aiga throughout the 4-5 weeks, we couldn't have done it without you.
