UC Amazing Race

Andrea Williamson —

The last careers event for the year took place on Tuesday 26th November when Careers Adviser, Mrs Williamson, took a group of Year 10 students for their first visit to the University of Canterbury.

They took part with other high schools in an Amazing Race competition around the university. The students worked in groups to complete a range of challenges aimed at encouraging creative thinking, teamwork and decision making in the areas of business, humanities, science and engineering. It was a great day and all the students enjoyed themselves.  Here is what one student said about the experience:

"Even though The Amazing Race was just around the University of Canterbury, it felt like a journey and a half. It was amazing to run around the university and experience what it's like and what they do, and learn new, fun and creative things on the way, from crashing a drone on the ceiling to making cool moulds to make mini chocolates.

This was definitely one of the best school trips I've been on and do recommend it to all future Year 10s. It's called The Amazing Race for a reason, because it's amazing!"
