Kaiapoi High School PTA – Connecting Parents, Teachers, Students and School Management

PTA —

PTA TERM 2 2017

Our first meeting of the term on 2nd May saw Elizabeth McMeeken speak to parents and students about NCEA, explaining the system, options and opportunities available through the school. Thank you to those who attended.

May 16th was the Open Night for prospective new students and families. The PTA ran a BBQ and a draw to win a school blazer. The evening was a success, with a great turnout.

On 1st August, following the PTA meeting, Andrea Williamson gave an informative and interesting talk on careers advice offered at the school. She discussed the importance of the students’ self-awareness and how, as they progress through the school, they are given opportunities to investigate possible careers. She also talked about the different ways students are able to gain entry in careers, such as apprenticeships and gateway programmes. The students get opportunities to visit careers expos and get individual advice and guidance.

The PTA are supporting the purchase of new microphones to help with the production and other events throughout the year.
