Lyndsay Fenn — Apr 12, 2016

Miss Fenn's Level 1 Outdoor Education class headed to Mt Somers for their first tramp of the year.

Luckily the weather was on their side and they were fortunate enough to have blue skies and sunshine for the duration of the trip. This hot weather meant it was a tough at times on the steep sections, especially whilst carrying heavy packs!

Meal times were impressive, with students showing off their culinary skills with a range of masterchef quality meals! There certainly was no chance of students going hungry on this trip!

Day two involved students navigating off-track, across rivers, past waterfalls, through water caves and then finally climbing up to a nearby summit, with the reward of 360 degree views of the mountains. With the clear weather, students were lucky enough to see MtCook in the distance.

On the final day, with the thought of warm showers at home, the walking pace quickened across the group, and students were home before they knew it, after their first taste of adventure for the year. The second round of Level 1 tramps head out early in term two, hopefully before the worst of the winter weather kicks in!
