Level 2 Business Studies trip

Joseph Saunders, Y12 —

Recently, students from the Level 2 Business Studies course embarked on an enlightening trip to Rangiora Bakery.

At the bakery they were privileged to gain insights from Ron and Sarah. Amidst the aroma of freshly baked goods, Ron and Sarah generously shared their knowledge of business operations, customer relations, and the art of selling your product. Students were captivated as they learned firsthand about the challenges and successes of running a successful bakery business in today's competitive market. A key difference that the Rangiora Bakery has is the bespoke products that they provide and the ability for them to create over 1100 different goods ranging from savoury to sweet, while always using real ingredients.

We were lucky to go on a tour of the bakery which showed us the massive scale of the Rangiora Bakery. They distribute frozen goods domestically and internationally to a large range of customers, McDonald's, Burger King, BP, Air New Zealand, Emirates, Qantas, to name a few. They make sure that they work closely with the customers to make sure that they are providing the product wanted by the customer and are not restricted by the machines that are available in the bakery.

The trip, not only, broadened our understanding of business but also inspired us with practical wisdom we can apply in our Young Enterprise business ventures for 2024.

We would all like to thank Ron and Sarah for taking time out of their busy day to show us around the bakery and factory, and talk to us about their journeys through business.
