Cultural Learning Centre
The new Cultural Learning Centre now has the roof completed and is ready for the soffits and building wrap to go on.
Then the windows and doors will be installed, ready for the exterior cladding. The building boys have been working very hard, giving up their mid-term break and numerous Sundays, and should be very proud of their achievements. We are hoping to have the building completely closed in by the end of the year and will work on the interior with the new group of building students next year.
Many thanks to the following firms: Action Scaffolding for providing the scaffolding free of charge; Smiths Hire, who loaned us a cherry picker to enable us to nail the trusses in place at no cost; Pre-cut Construction and Kaiapoi ITM for supplying timber and fixing materials; Net Safety Canterbury, who loaned us all the nets to use under the trusses at no cost; Canterbury Roofing, who have supplied roofing materials at a discounted rate; Orange & Mango Plasterers, who will be donating a lot of labour and supplying materials at a discounted rate for the outside cladding.
In particular, a special thanks to Paul Addie who gave up a Sunday and supplied a machine to lift the large scissor trusses into position.
