Level 3 Geography

Simon Creed —

Earlier this term, the Level 3 Geography classes took the journey to Kaikoura where they travelled to a range of beaches around the area to try and investigate their differences and why these occur.

As usual on a Geography field trip, we were hit with every type of weather that you can imagine! This meant that we had a great day at the beach (with a bit of a tan thrown in there), followed by rain bucketing down on us throughout the night.

The Kaikoura coastline threw us some epic waves to measure for our research, but unfortunately this meant that our trip out to do some whale watching - which was meant to be the highlight of the trip - had to be cancelled, which we were all super gutted about. However, this meant that we had some more time to explore the town and begin to investigate how tourism has helped to shape Kaikoura into the place that it is today, before finishing the trip off with some fish and chips on the beach.

Even though things didn’t quite go as planned, it was still a great trip with an awesome bunch of people.
