Term 2 has been a very informative term for parents attending the information evenings coordinated by the PTA. Thank you to Elizabeth McMeeken (Deputy Principal) for sharing her insights into NCEA at our May meeting, and Andy Ashworth (Assistant Principal) and Andrea Williamson (Careers Adviser & Gateway Coordinator) for providing an update on career planning from year 9 to year 10 during our June meeting. We are really fortunate to have some great opportunities for our students at Kaiapoi High, from Trade Training, work experience to University visits. QUIZ NIGHT FRIDAY 26TH AUGUST
TICKETS GO ON SALE FOR THIS POPULAR EVENING ON THE FIRST DAY OF TERM 3. LIMITED TO 25 TEAMS.
STUDENTS AND YOUNGER FAMILY MEMBERS ARE WELCOME AS TEAM MEMBERS.
BYO DRINKS (STUDENTS MAY NOT CONSUME ALCHOL ON SCHOOL GROUNDS). LIGHT SUPPER PROVIDED. $60 PER TEAM (UPTO 6 MEMBERS PER TEAM).
For those new to the school community, Kaiapoi High has been running Quiz Nights since the 70s. School staff are keen competitors on the night. Winning teams have the honour of having their name engraved on the Shield. Lots of great prizes and raffles for sale on the night.
BASKETBALL
As a PTA that has recently sponsored two new sets of basketball uniforms for the school, it is great to see so many Kaiapoi High students playing basketball in 2016. The school has 11 teams entered in the Friday night competition in Christchurch. All the teams are going well. However, if there are any parents or ex students that can help with managing or coaching or refereeing, please get in contact with Pete McAllister, p.mcallister@kaiapoi.school.nz. Friday 26th August – School auditorium, 7pm to 10pm. PTA Annual Quiz Night – tickets sold out in 2015, so make sure you get yours when they go on sale late July!
Tuesday 6th September – School staffroom, 7pm to 9pm. PTA Meeting – Quiz Night review – all welcome.
Tuesday 25th October – School staffroom, 7pm to 9pm. Last meeting for year review of 2016 and plans put in place for 2017. Update from Bruce Kearney – all welcome.
