Dear Parents and Caregivers, As I write this newsletter I am sitting in my Year 11 study class.

In Outdoor Education, we go to special places. We respect kaitiakitanga to ensure that the places that we visit, and how we act in those places, safeguards the special qualities of the place for our future generations.

It has been a very busy start to 2020 for our International Department!

On Tuesday 9 April a group of Years 12 & 13 students attended the University of Canterbury's Discovery Day.

On Wednesday 20 March, the Japanese International students who are here learning English, went on an English Language excursion to Sumner.

Congratulations to the following Kaiapoi High School students for their sporting achievements in Term 1:

In the prelude to the Nationals, the team went through Canterbury Wednesday Sport undefeated, the final being a match-up with Avonside Girls High School. KHS won that convincingly and went into the Nationals as Canterbury Champs.

Year 13 student, Lewis MacDonald, came first place in the Under 18 section of the Coast to Coast event in February. This was a tremendous achievement.

Kaiapoi High School had a squad of nine female rowers entered in the South Island Secondary Schools' Rowing Championships at Lake Ruataniwha in Twizel.

A small group of students attended Footnote Dance Company's touring show, Hemispheres, at the Theatre Royal recently.

The outdoor area of the Barrington Plunket Clinic has been refreshed with help from some of our Year 12 students and the University of Canterbury (UC) Student Volunteer Army (SVA).
