Jason Miles —

We are now well into a new term and I am pleased to say our children are working hard and making the most of the many opportunities that are available to them!

It was wonderful to have 4 representatives from the Kaiapoi Fire Brigade visit our assembly on Friday. One of these was a former pupil Katie Reeve, who at the age of 18 is now a volunteer Firewoman. We are proud to support their run up the Auckland Sky Tower with a mufti day on Thursday (tomorrow). All funds raised will go towards Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC). Please see the separate article for more details.

Our Year 5-8 Showquest performance at Chch Town Hall on Monday 17th May will be enjoyable to watch. This group has been rehearsing hard over the past few weeks (including in the holidays) and their Rubbish Recycling themed performance is looking sharp. We pride ourselves on making sure that every child who wants to be part of this can be involved and get on the big stage. All the best to this group for Monday evening!

A heads up that there will be a Teacher Only Day for all Kaiapoi schools (KNS closed for children) - Friday 4th June - Week 5. We are part of the Katote Kahui Ako comprising of 9 local schools, staff will be meeting together at Kaiapoi High School to further collaborate around our collective learning, cultural and transition goals.

Advanced notice that we will be putting out further information about our upcoming Student led conferences - Week 9 - Monday 28 & Tuesday 29 June. Parents, teachers, and children will meet to discuss progress and achievement. Of course if you would like to ask to meet with the home teacher about any aspects of your child's schooling please contact them directly at any point of the school year.

Let us keep working together for the benefit of all of our children

Nga mihi,

Jason Miles - principal
