From the Principal - Wednesday 28th June, 2023
We held our annual Book Week last week - what an enjoyable event! We are grateful to Mrs Kathryn Lynskey for organising Book Week which saw an even larger focus on reading and loving books. Thank you to our parents and caregivers for your amazing support with the Cake Sale and Book Fair which raised over $2,500 for our library + 21 books donated by families from the fair! The book character dress up day was a real highlight of the week for both staff and children!
Thank you for connecting with us at our Student led conferences last week. This was an important opportunity to share progress and next learning steps. If you were unable to make an appointment please reach out to your teacher to find a time that suits you both.
We are proud of Faith Emery, Tyson Hearn, Niko Henderson and Layla Cooke-Sullivan for their superb effort as part of the combined Kaiapoi school's Kapa Haka at the opening Powhiri for the Manu Korero competition for high school students. Ka pai, great job - I love this photo with the Tahu FM MC for the event!
Well done to our Canterbury Cross Country team of Isla Tafu, Elisa Taulava, Cooper Jolly, Jack Edinburgh, Hazel Herriott and Savarna Nutbrown for qualifying for this event. All of our runners competed strongly and can be very proud of their effort. A special congratulations to Jack Edinburgh for being selected in the Year 7 Canterbury training squad!
Well done to our Year 7/8 and Year 5/6 teams for your efforts at the ePro8 competition hosted by KNS this week. Lots of fantastic thinking, problem solving and tech skills on show!
All the best to our three Year 7/8 basketball teams heading to Oamaru in the holidays for a South Island tournament. The teams have put in a lot of preparation for this event, a big thank you to Mrs Megan Gilmore for your leadership and organisation, and to the coaches, referees and parents for your support!
