From the Principal - Wednesday 22nd June, 2022
I am truely grateful for the talented, knowledgable and passionate staff we have at Te Kura o Ruataniwha Kaiapoi North School. The photo above shows our Deputy Principal Felicity Fahey and Akeake team leader Belinda Gifford presenting to a group of local teachers recently about the approach we have to teaching literacy. We again had another 60 local teachers visit us yesterday to hear about what we are doing with how we are teaching reading and writing. We are proud of our developments, and of the effort our staff make to continue to learn and share best practice.
Our top cross country runners are competing in the Canterbury event today. We had 7 children qualify to run at this event, unfortunately sickness prevented some from running, but what a terrific effort to have made it to this level. Results will be shared in our next newsletter!
Our student-led conferences are next Monday and Tuesday. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child and their home teacher to discuss achievement, progress and current goals. This is a 10-minute appointment slot, booked online at www.schoolinterviews.co.nz using the code hfs3t if you haven't booked already.
If you have more than one child please ensure you have at least 10 minutes between each of your appointments to allow you to move between our classroom spaces. To ensure you can concentrate on one child at a time we provide a “creche” in the library for children of all ages. In 2022 there is also an online meeting option, if you select this the teacher will email with a link for you to connect to at the booking time. The Conferences are on Monday 27th June (1:30pm finish for children who can be collected) and Tuesday 28th June. Please note the finish time for classrooms on Monday is 1:30pm, not 2pm as previously shared. If you are able to collect your child/ren at 1:30pm (on Monday only) it would be greatly appreciated, all children who are not collected will be supervised in the library and hall until 3pm as normal.
A heads up that our Board of Trustees election is coming up fast! We have a wonderful Board who have almost completed their 3 year term. Soon our Returning Officer Julie Garing will be calling for nominations for the next 3 year term. For those of you who are interested in finding out more:
