MANA AKE - WELLBEING

Kaiapoi North School, in conjunction with the wellbeing service Mana Ake – Stronger for Tomorrow, are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for parents at our school to have a confidential discussion with a Mana Ake Counsellor. Parents can bring concerns or worries around children, and gain assistance or tips for things that might be helpful for parenting or family life. Chloe Kinajil is a trained counsellor with Mana Ake, and works in a number of schools in the North Canterbury area. Times with Chloe will be available strictly by appointment, so phone Dawn Anderson on 03 327 8803 if you would like to take up this opportunity.  We are arranging Parent Drop In appointments on Wednesdays – Week 4 of each term from1pm – 3.15pm [3 time slots, 1-1.40, 1.45 – 2.25, 2.30 – 3.10 ]. If these times are unsuitable, Chloe can offer other time slots or venue if preferred.

ROAD SAFETY - WILLIAMS STREET

CROSSING THE ROAD SAFELY

We are noticing that many parents are not using the crossing with their children after school. Many are crossing from the pathway by the junior playground. This is very dangerous as the traffic is very busy in the afternoon.
Please take a little bit more time to walk down to the crossing to cross Williams St. This sets a good example for all students and also teaches students to use this, creates good habits and especially for the time that they may need to cross the road without a parent.
For new parents you may have noticed that our Road Patrollers call information to let you know when to cross. There are three steps to putting the signs out:
1 - Signs out
2 - Check/clear
3 - Cross now - this is when everyone can cross safely. Please wait until you hear this and then cross.

PARKING
The area across the road from school on Williams St - from Coups Tce back towards the crossing is a no parking area before and after school. Please do not park here, as it creates congestion, as cars who are not turning into the school cannot get past and limits visibility for our road patrollers.

If grandparents or other caregivers pick up your children we would appreciate you sharing this information with them.
We appreciate your co-operation on both of these issues, as our number one goal is to keep our students safe.
