Jason Miles —

What an amazing week we had with 4 KNS productions on stage, it was so wonderful to see our children enjoying their performances! Thank you to our school community for turning out in high numbers in the audience, with some of you coming along for multiple performances!

I could not have been prouder of our School productions which foster such a positive spirit of teamwork and collaboration among our children. Everyone involved must work together to bring the production to life with each student playing an important role, emphasising the values of cooperation, compromise, and respect. A huge well done to our students and a big thank you to all of our staff who led and supported the productions throughout the week. As I said on the nights "it is wonderful to see the Arts Curriculum on our stage, and it is so much better than the telly!"

It was a shame that Mt Hutt was closed today for our Year 8 ski trip, as Mt Hutt staff knew closure was a possibility they offered a postponement date so we will try again next Thursday 14th September.

It has been great to see our Akeake, Hinau and Totara teams begin their opportunity to learn about how to play golf. Over the next 3 weeks they will participate in skills and drills, with the Year 5-8 children then getting the opportunity to go down to the Kaiapoi Golf Club to try their skills on the course! We thank Kaiapoi Golf Club and Canterbury Golf for supporting and promoting this opportunity for learning how to play. As a keen golfer myself who started playing when I was about 11-12 it warms my heart to see our KNS children giving this a go. Who knows we may have a future Bob Charles or Lydia Ko among us!

We have much to look forward to including:

Big Brothers, Big Sisters Mufti Day - Thursday 7th Sep

Year 3-8 weekly golf sessions - Week 8, 9 and 10

Ski Trip - Year 8 - now Thursday 14th September

Canterbury Winter Sport competition - Thursday 14th Sep

Year 7/8 Koru Games - Week 10

Term 3 ends - Friday 22nd September

Term 4 begins - Monday 9th October

Term 4 ends - 12pm, Friday 15th December

Nga mihi,

Jason Miles - Principal
