Crafting Wooden Waka: A Fun and Educational Experience
Our students recently engaged in a hands-on project where they built miniature wooden waka and tested their creations in the school pool.
In a unique and exciting activity, our students embarked on a journey of making their very own little wooden waka. Through this project, they not only honed their technology and problem solving but also gained insights into traditional Maori culture and watercraft design.
The students eagerly assembled their miniature waka, carefully considering the intricate details and design elements. Once completed, they had the opportunity to sail their creations in our school pool, providing a fun and interactive learning experience that combined history, craftsmanship, and water activities.
This memorable event was captured in photos, showcasing the students' enthusiasm and their beautifully crafted wooden waka as they floated gracefully in the pool. Great stuff Mr's O'Neill!
