I would like to share Kaihere School's comprehensive Annual Plan for this year, focusing on enhancing student learning, strengthening professional capabilities, fostering relationships, and building community connections.
In a bid to create a transformative educational experience for its students, I would like to share the goals we have in our Annual Plan for 2023. This plan emphasises four key areas: improving student learning and achievement, growing professional capabilities, nurturing relationships that support learning, and fostering a strong sense of community.
To improve student learning and achievement, the school will prioritise the development of literacy and numeracy skills and provide targeted support for Māori students and those with additional learning needs. The plan also includes measures to ensure that the school's Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) framework is effectively implemented, and that te reo Māori and tikanga Māori are meaningfully incorporated into the everyday life of the school.
In terms of professional capabilities, our annual plan outlines initiatives to establish a professional growth cycle process, embed a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice, and develop the leadership capabilities of all staff members. These efforts aim to enhance teaching, leadership, and learner support across the school.
The third goal, nurturing relationships that support learning, focuses on strengthening communication channels between home and school. Regular updates on school programmes and activities will be provided through newsletters, emails, and the transition to HERO as the main communication tool. We plan to continue regular meetings with parents and whānau to discuss their child's progress and learning needs.
Lastly, the annual plan emphasises fostering a strong sense of community by developing and maintaining partnerships with the wider community. This includes identifying community organisations, such as local marae, iwi, and other community groups, that can support the school's curriculum goals. By developing a partnership programme and providing opportunities for students to engage in real-world learning experiences through these connections, Kaihere School aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
We believe that this annual plan will provide a strong foundation for our students, staff, and community to grow and flourish together. Our focus on strengthening connections, both within our school and with the wider community, will empower our students and create a truly enriching educational experience.
With this comprehensive and ambitious annual plan, we are poised to make significant strides in enhancing the educational experience for all students and fostering a strong, connection with our community.
