End of Term news from the Junior Syndicate.

Susan Oldfield —

What a busy end of term we have had but it has been so much fun.

2018 seems to have ended with a  flurry of outings and fun learning. This is my final newsletter as Assistant Principal of the Junior School and I would just like to say what a privilege it has been to teach and get to know you and your children. Many children over the past 24 years have been through either my class or in the Juniors and I hope that if I see you  out and about in Dunedin you will stop and say hello.

Well what has been happening in the Juniors since we last wrote a newsletter. Fun class changes each day as we made fun craft activities.

What an amazing job the children and teachers did at our end of year Junior concert. We hope you enjoyed all the songs and dances, what a huge turn out we had. Thank you for coming to support us. Photos at the end of this article show what we did.

There was some debate as to what the weather was going to be like for our Junior picnic at Mosgiel Park but in the end we took a punt and we were fine. Not too hot and not too cold just right. The children were so well behaved and loved the tabloid activities the teachers had for them before lunch. Then we had an hours free play after lunch before boarding the bus to come back to school. There were some very sleepy children I can tell you on the return trip. Thank you to the parents who made the effort to come out for all or part of the day. It was lovely to have you out there with us.

Fun times on Thursday afternoon at the Kavanagh College Pantomime has topped off a busy last few weeks of school.

We say thank you to Mrs Fran Hall for her work she has done in Room 11 with our 3rd new entrant class.

Also a big thank you  to Mrs Nicky Garden who has helped us all year with classroom release time. She has also helped with Room 7 this week while poor Miss Riley gets her tonsils out. We send Miss Riley many health germs to get better quickly.

I also want to thank my team of teachers in the Juniors for all their wonderful ideas and support they are amazing. Please tell them so when you see them for the last time this year. We are so lucky at Kaikorai to have teachers of such a high calibre.

A notice went home about how to order your exercise books for next year and we hope you put those instructions in a safe place. It is good to have your children's books ready by the end of the first week of school at the latest.

Please wash all sunhats ready to return them clearly named on the first day of 2019.

If you are moving on from the Junior School we wish you all the best as your children move to their next stage of their learning in the middle syndicate. If you are staying in the Juniors then we look forward to welcoming you back in 2019.

Have a wonderful Christmas, a restful New Year and a marvellous holiday with your family and come back safely to us in 2019.

All the best and thank you for your support from

Susan Oldfield, Paula Fisher, Courtney Dunn, Emma Riley, Felicia Ward and Fran Hall.
